Rural economies being ignored

The Chair of the Lords Rural Economy Committee Lord Foster argues on the website PoliticsHome.com that successive governments have ignored rural communities, in particular in terms of business needs.

He writes that rural policy ‘lacks direction’ and that rural priorities ‘are too often side-lined’, an opinion formed after taking evidence from groups around the country, including the Rural Services Network

Lord Foster says that he hopes the report ‘acts as a wake-up call to Government’ and as a ‘rallying point for rural communities’.
