Peta - rename village 'Vegan Wool'

Animal rights campaign group, PETA, has raised eyebrows by asking the village of Wool to change its name to Vegan Wool, according to the inews website.

The request was submitted to the village of Wool, founded in the 11th century and today home to some 5,300 people, in order to raise awareness around the cruelty of the wool production industry.

Local councillor Cherry Brooks called PETA’s request ‘ridiculous’ and resident Anne Vincent pointed out on Facebook that the village’s name has nothing to do with sheep, ‘It comes from the Saxon word for spring (welle),’ she wrote.
