Could co-living ease the UK countryside’s housing crisis?

The Financial Times reports on a new plan to create a rented accommodation model able to address the needs of the young who would like to continue living in the countryside, or to move and to stay there

The model is rental only, which makes it suitable for areas with house-price inflation and second homes.

The designers have said they want to move away from the standard model of home building, which fails to tackle issues of loneliness, childcare, car dependency and diversity.

The proposed scheme has flexible layouts and co-living options, which has thus far not been tried in the British countryside but would mean multigenerational living and extended families could be better catered for.
