Community support limitations

The Local Government Chronicle has responded to the Government’s recently announced strategy to tackle loneliness.

The publication lauds Theresa May’s intention but questions the real effect ‘without much money to back it up’ as only £1.8 million was pledged.

This view was mirrored by Labour’s shadow minister for local government Yvonne Fovargue, who called the money a ‘drop in the ocean when set against the substantial real cuts that councils have suffered for years’.
