Vodafone UK shares network to improve rural connectivity

Vodafone UK has announced that it has agreed to share ‘unused’ 4G radio spectrum with StattoOpencell in a bid to improve rural connectivity

ISPReview reports that the decision, which has been called an ‘industry first’ will help provide high-speed data in ‘remote areas without fibre connectivity’.

The three year agreement has been made possible by Ofcom’s recent decision to allow a spectrum sharing framework which has permitted the creation of smaller mobile and fixed wireless broadband ISP networks to deliver local coverage.
