Virgin Media O2 announces a 4G and 5G boost to rural areas

Virgin Media has announced a £448m investment to boost its 4G and 5G network areas, with a focus on rural and tourist hotspots, according to telecom publisher 5G Radar

This is due to the rapid increase in staycations around the UK as a result of the pandemic and travel restrictions.

A YouGov study found that 57% of those surveyed are planning a holiday in a remote area of the UK.

It has already brought improved 4G network connectivity to 31,300 postcodes so far this year.

The expansion of connectivity is also to support the growth of flexible remote workers.
