Support for Rural Commission

As part of an ongoing campaign to protect the interests of rural communities, the Yorkshire Post has published a comment piece declaring the paper’s support for a new Rural Commission in Yorkshire.

It comes after North Yorkshire County Council set up an independent ‘rural commission’ made up of experts to ‘take on the fight to save from further decline villages blighted by economic cuts and falling populations’. Members will spend eight months taking evidence on farming, transport, education, housing, accessibility and the regional economy, before making public recommendations to the council.
