Rural Housing Objectives

In a period of sustained austerity, rural areas are at most risk as resources become focused on easier solutions where larger numbers of people live.

The Rural Services Network is working to highlight the needs and opportunities presented by rural areas in relation to housing. Too often the perceived rural idyll presents a false perception.

Rural areas, which are far more diverse in England and tend therefore to be less vocal about their concerns, must have the opportunity of some service focus.

At a time when the promotion of sustainable economic growth is centre stage it is also important that the potential contribution of rural areas is properly recognised.

Our rural housing objectives are:

• The promotion of rural housing issues through regular contact with key organisations, lobbying and responding to critical national consultations.
• The provision of a direct interface with local authorities and other organisations already part of the network.
• The sharing of current information and best practice on rural housing issues.
