Post Office transaction payments to increase

The Post Office have agreed, following a six-month review, to increase transaction payments made to Post Office managers by around 10% from next year. They have also agreed to introduce a flat rate element to the payment made to (mainly rural) Post Office Locals, to help sustain them

The Post Office says this move forms part of “a major drive to reset the relationship with postmasters, to reflect a much improved commercial partnership between the Post Office and business owners”.

The RSN has welcomed this news as current levels of transaction payments are too low to sustain the network, with the risk that many Post Office owners/managers would simply walk away.
