Ofcom announce measuring compliance with the Shared Rural Network

ISPreview has covered Ofcom’s announcement of more details about the new £1 billion Shared Rural Network (SRN), which aims to extend UK geographic 4G mobile coverage to 95 per cent by the end of 2025

The new guidance explains how the regulator will assess the compliance of O2, Vodafone, Three UK and EE (BT) with those commitments.

Under the terms of the SRN agreement, each mobile operator has committed to providing ‘good quality data and voice coverage’ to 90 per cent by 30th June 2026.

The mobile operators have agreed to their 900 MHz and/or 1800 MHz licences being varied to give effect to these commitments in the form of new coverage obligations.
