Make use of local resources to achieve rural roll-out of the vaccine

Jamie Stone MP (LibDem), writes in PoliticsHome this week that for rural constituencies the vaccine presents several new problems

As rural communities often contain a higher proportion of older people compared to the rest of the country in general, he questions whether we must require those first in the queue for the vaccine to travel vast distances.

Due to the long distances rural residents are required to travel to reach health services, Mr Stone recently suggested to Health Secretary Matt Hancock MP (Con) in the Commons that we should instead seek to take the vaccine to the patient.

In order to maximise safety and minimises stress, Mr Stone suggest that we need to think about this kind of community planning in rural parts of the UK, including by using the Armed Forces when necessary.
