Labour Promises Rural Ministers for Every Government Department

Farmers Weekly reports that the Labour Party will create a minister for rural affairs in every Government department in attempt to pinch Conservative voters in the countryside

The pledge was made by shadow DEFRA secretary Luke Pollard MP at the Labour Party Conference as part of ongoing rural policy review.

He stated that the current Government was failing rural communities and Labour had a chance to rectify this by institutionalising the importance of rural communities in every department rather than just ‘rural proofing’ policy.

More on the matter is expected to be announced in the run up to local elections next spring.
