Introducing the RSN Executive

At the recent Annual General Meeting of the Rural Services Network, the Executive Board that manages the organisation was elected for another year

We are delighted to have such a wide representation on our Executive Board and wanted to introduce you to them.

The Executive is Chaired by Councillor Cecilia Motley, who represents Shropshire Council. Councillor Motley has been Chair for several years and brings first hand knowledge of the issues affecting rural and very sparse communities.

The role of the Executive is to have overall control of the budget for the year ahead, and as we are a membership organisation, recommend the level of subscriptions to the AGM.  They also have oversight over the work plan for the organisation and help us to focus our work to ensure it meets the needs of our membership.

The Executive has 18 members in total, with many representing rural Local Authorities across England, from Districts, to Counties and Unitaries.

In addition, we have some specialist representatives for example:

  • Martin Collett, CX of English Rural Housing Association is our housing specialist
  • John Birtwistle, Policy Director of First Buses represents rural buses
  • Anna Price, Founder of the Rural Business Awards, represents Small Businesses
  • Kayleigh Wainwright, of UK Youth, represents young people in rural areas
