Funding Opportunity: A Chance To Turn Bold Ideas Into Real Change

Applications are now open for the 2026 Churchill Fellowships, giving UK citizens a unique opportunity to explore global solutions to the challenges facing communities today.

Every year, the Churchill Fellowship funds more than 100 individuals to spend four to eight weeks researching innovative ideas around the world – either in person or online. Fellows meet international experts, build networks, and return to the UK with fresh insights and the support needed to put their ideas into practice.

This year’s launch is especially significant. Not only does it mark the 60th anniversary of the Churchill Fellowship, celebrating six decades of change-making by more than 4,000 Fellows, it also introduces three brand new programmes. These sit alongside the Fellowship’s established themes, creating more opportunities than ever for people with vision and determination to make a difference.

Julia Weston, Chief Executive of the Churchill Fellowship, said:

"We are very excited to be launching our latest series of Fellowships, including three brand new programmes. I would encourage anyone with a passion to make a difference to find out more about how a Churchill Fellowship could help bring your idea for change to life. We welcome applications from any UK citizen with a vision for change in their community or sector".

What’s New In 2026?

The 2026 Fellowships include three new programmes:

  • Building a society that cares – reimagining how care is delivered in its broadest sense across the UK.
  • Building prosperous and resilient economies – supporting fair, inclusive local economies, especially in disadvantaged areas.
  • Making space for the arts – enabling creative individuals to bring bold, inclusive artistic experiences into public spaces.

These join the existing programmes: Caring for our natural environment, Climate change, Supporting engagement in education, Promoting lifelong health, and Tech for all.

Who Can Apply?

One of the Fellowship’s defining features is its openness. Applications are welcome from all adult UK citizens, regardless of background, qualifications, or age. Priority is given to those who might not otherwise have access to funding, ensuring the opportunity is as inclusive as possible.

Applications close at midday on 4 November 2025.
