Friday before Christmas busiest day for cash withdrawals at Post Offices

Yahoo Finance reports that Friday 20th December was forecast as the busiest day of the year for the Post Office in terms of cash withdrawals across its 11,500 branches

On Friday December 21st last year, Post Office branches handled 400,000 over-the-counter cash withdrawals.

The Post Office has already seen a 15 per cent increase in demand for cash withdrawals in the run-up to Christmas compared with last year.

Post Office research also suggests 59 per cent of people across the UK who celebrate Christmas are likely to use cash instead of card when purchasing gifts and treats or socialising. This figure rises to two-thirds (66 per cent) of people in rural areas.
