An Analysis of Domestic Energy Efficiency Ratings lodged on the Energy Performance of Buildings Register

The energy efficiency of housing stock might indicate both the quality of housing stock in an area and the relative prosperity of the residents, and their financial ability to maintain their homes.  As such, the below analysis is an interesting view of the difference between Predominantly Rural and Predominantly Urban authority areas. The analysis also shows the position for a chosen local authority area.

It appears that for the most rural local authority areas, a greater proportion of their housing stocks are in both the most and least efficient ends of the housing spectrum, when compared to the most urban areas. This might demonstrate greater levels of inequlity for communities within rural local authority areas, which is clearly an issue that would require further detailed analysis to fully understand
