Residual fuels are defined as non-gas, non-electricity and non-road transport fuels, and cover consumption of coal, petroleum, manufactured solid fuels and bioenergy and waste not used for electricity generation or road transport. This analysis looks at the situation for a chosen authority, the different consumptions for rural and urban authorities, and for class and classification averages as selected within the analysis. It covers the period 2005 to 2021. It demonstrates a consistently greater reliance on residual fuels (per head of population) for Predominantly Rural areas in most sectors and for most fuel types, with greater proportions of overall use going to Domestic and Agricultural sectors.
