Warm Hubs – Supporting Rural Communities in Warwickshire and Solihull

Since December 2020, WRCC has enjoyed a strong and productive partnership with Cadent, working together to support Warm Hubs across Warwickshire and Solihull. These Hubs are more than just warm spaces—they are welcoming, volunteer-led community venues that offer refreshments, activities, and vital social connections.

Warm Hubs are run by volunteers and are often hosted in village halls or community buildings. They provide a safe, inclusive environment where people can meet regularly, enjoy a hot drink or meal, and take part in activities such as crafts, games, gentle exercise, or guest speaker sessions. Many also offer signposting to essential services, including energy advice from organisations like National Energy Action and Act on Energy, as well as Citizens Advice and NHS support.

Since April 2024, over 70,000 people have visited WRCC’s 30 accredited Warm Hubs—a powerful testament to the impact of community collaboration. Thanks to Cadent’s generous funding, WRCC has been able to offer grants to Warm Hubs, helping them remain open and responsive to local needs.

“We are truly grateful to have been awarded the Warm Hub grant. This funding will make a real difference in helping us continue to provide a welcoming and safe space for our community throughout the year.”

“A massive thank you for the financial support awarded to Welcome Space, Bedworth. This grant will enable us to continue providing a safe, warm, and friendly meeting place for our local community.”

WRCC’s dedicated Warm Hubs team coordinates the project, visiting Hubs regularly to offer support and distribute Cadent resources such as CO alarms, slow cookers, and heated blankets. They also promote the Priority Services Register (PSR), which ensures vulnerable residents receive extra support during utility outages.

Warm Hubs are part of WRCC’s broader mission to support rural communities. Many attendees also benefit from the charity’s Community Food Fleet (CFF) - a modern take on meals on wheels, delivering hot and cold meals to homes and Warm Hubs, and catering for local events. Learn more about CFF.

Transport can be a barrier in rural areas, which is why our Back&4th community transport service offers affordable, accessible travel with qualified volunteer drivers. Find out more about Back&4th.

We also provide advice and support to village and community halls, helping them remain sustainable and welcoming spaces for initiatives like Warm Hubs. Find out more.
