Hastoe Housing Association

Hastoe is an award-winning, specialist rural housing association. It owns and manages over 7,500 homes in around 70 local authority areas across southern England, from Devon to Norfolk.

Hastoe’s mission is to ‘build sustainable homes for sustainable communities’. It is passionate about the contribution new affordable homes make in growing local rural economies, sustaining local services, and helping to develop resilient communities in rural England.

Hastoe is also passionate about environmental sustainability. It is a pioneer in building homes to Passivhaus standard – a highly energy efficient building method that can reduce heating bills to less than £150 per year. Since 2021, it has been building homes to its own Hastoe New-Build Standard (EPC-B) which exceeds building regulations in energy efficiency and uses nationally described space standards. All homes are designed to blend with the local village vernacular and quality management processes ensure a high-quality build.

Hastoe’s primary method of development is through the Rural Exception Site model, which means homes are built to meet an identified local housing need and will be available for people who live and work in the local area in perpetuity.
