RSN Publishes Rural Impact Assessment Of Budget 2025

The Rural Services Network put together an initial assessment of the Government’s 2025 Budget, reviewing the likely implications for rural communities across energy, transport, housing, public services, skills and local government funding.

While several national measures will provide some support, the analysis highlights that the Budget contains no rural-specific commitments and leaves key inequalities unresolved, including fuel poverty, higher living costs, limited transport options and the pressures facing rural councils.

Kerry Booth, Chief Executive of the Rural Services Network, said:

Rural communities must not be left behind as national policies are delivered. This Budget contains measures that will help many households, but it does not yet address the deep-rooted inequalities facing rural areas.

From fuel poverty to transport, housing and access to essential services, rural communities need fair funding, rural-proofed programmes and an equal chance to thrive.

Every resident, in every place, deserves a fair deal. The Government must ensure that rural communities are fully included in future funding decisions and policy design, so they are not overlooked once again.
