The Northern Powergrid Foundation is inviting applications for grants to help village groups and community organisations become more energy resilient. The deadline for applications is Sunday 13 October 2025.
Grants are particularly focused on projects that install Low Carbon Technologies (LCTs) such as solar panels, battery storage, or heat pumps. To date, the Foundation has supported over 90 communities with more than £1.3 million, reaching more than 100,000 people across the North East, Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
Alongside this funding, Northern Powergrid’s Community Energy Team can provide advice and training, help groups choose the most suitable LCTs for their needs, and guide them towards other funding opportunities. They also offer practical support with grant applications and the electricity connections process.
This is a valuable opportunity for rural groups to reduce energy costs, cut carbon emissions, and build stronger, greener communities.
