Jobs density

Economy Insight on the RSN website has now been updated with an analysis examining Jobs Density at local authority level.  The density figures represent the ratio of total jobs to population aged 16-64.  The analysis covers the period from 2008 to 2022 and allows selection of authority or class and classification averages.  Points of note from the analysis include:

  • Between 2008 and 2022 jobs density was consistently greater for Predominantly Urban areas than it was for Predominantly Rural.
  • There had been a general upward trend for both over the period 2009 to 2019, but they then both subsequently dipped before making some recovery in 2022.
