North Northamptonshire Council is encouraging local organisations, parish and town councils, and community groups to help raise awareness of an emergency support scheme for residents who rely on heating oil and are struggling with rising fuel costs.
Funded through the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), the scheme is designed to provide short-term assistance to households in rural and off-grid areas who are at risk of running out of heating oil and cannot afford the minimum cost of a delivery.
Who Can Apply?
Residents may be eligible if they:
The scheme is intended for emergency situations where low oil levels and the cost of a delivery could place a household's health, safety or basic living conditions at risk. It is not intended to support routine or planned fuel purchases.
What Support Is Available?
Eligible applicants will receive a £150 prepaid card to help cover heating oil costs. The card is issued through the HUGGG voucher platform and can be used alongside a resident's own contribution towards an oil delivery.
Applying For Support
Applications must be submitted online and typically take around 30 minutes to complete. Residents will need to provide evidence of their circumstances, including proof of identity, income and current oil levels.
Applications will be processed in the order they are received and will remain open until available funding has been fully allocated. Decisions are usually made within one month.
Help Spread The Word
North Northamptonshire Council is asking local partners to help promote the scheme through parish newsletters, websites, noticeboards and social media channels to ensure support reaches those most in need.
Members working with rural communities may wish to share this information with residents who could benefit from the scheme.
