Bus drivers working long hours cause safety concerns

Labour MP Matt Western wrote on the website PoliticsHome.com about local bus drivers’ working hours and the impact on public safety.

Currently, local bus drivers are not subject to the same regulations as lorry or long-distance bus drivers so are permitted to drive up to 130 hours across two weeks.

Following a fatal accident in his constituency, Western has brought forward as Westminster Hall debate on the matter, encouraging the Bus Minister Nus Ghani to help change the law to improve public and passenger safety.
