BT boss warns Boris Johnson over rural threat to broadband pledge

The chief executive of BT has warned Boris Johnson that his election pledge of a broadband upgrade for the whole country will be impossible to deliver unless competition rules are clarified.

Philip Jansen proposed a ‘single rural network’ scheme which would allow broadband competitors to avoid overlapping each other in the 20% to 30% of the country where there are too few homes and businesses to support investment by multiple broadband firms.
