RSP Access to Services

accesstoservicesWe are doing a lot of work in this area.

This includes examining the availability of public sevices in rural localities.

We are also looking at the big question of digital inclusion and broadband speeds in remote areas.
  1. Taking service and information out to customers is essential if rural people are not to be massively disadvantaged. Some 40% of rural people still have no contact with a computer and there is little sign that this percentage is decreasing. We are working with others to share best practice in this area and to generate investigation about how “village hubs” could be successfully established and operated. We regard this as really important work.
  2. SPARSE Rural has been involved in a Devon examination of the village hub concept.
We will set out on a periodic basis officer thinking in relation to this issue.
