- Calls for evidence
One of the most important roles of the Network is to seek to inform accurately Government and those advising Government about the situation relating to rural issues from the perspective of both serivce providers and the rural communities they serve. We will therefore be seeking to compile 'evidence' in relation to specific areas of work and study. The evidence compiled is of course not only of assistance to Government but it is an important cross reference area for members themselves. We will be sectionalising the outcomes, establishing topic by topic, and creating an important library of information on our website. - Best practice guide
Through the network we will be able to establish and spread best practice and learning information from many sources and across in a myriad of areas. We are particularly interested in innovative ways hybrid services have been able to be created and the inter-relationship with and the involvement of private sector organisations and the Third sector. We aim to establish an updated library of information in this area. - Local Organisation Temperature Taking
Through the Community Group we operate weekly links with 4,500 parishes across England. We plan a service which provides main members with periodic information on the priorities, concerns, and views of the Local Council tier. The Community Group also comprises several thousand rurally based local Schools, Local Societies and Local Businesses. We think there is value in surveying for views and statistical information and using the network as strongly as we are able and we will use the Community Group in this way. We plan to undertake these surveys periodically and circulate results widely and will seek to increase these exercises as the community group establishes
