All-Party Parliamentary Group

The Rural Services Network facilitates an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Rural Services to give Westminster focus to the rural concerns expressed in our Rural Manifesto. A quarterly news bulletins to rural MPs enables network members to highlight specific issues.

  1. Representation
We will make representation to government and others about rural service issues as they arise – this is the primary role of the network. For more information on fairer funding, click here.

  2. All-Party Parliamentary Group on Rural Services
We act as the secretariat to this 65-member group, which we assisted to establish. The Group comprises 50 MP's and 15 Lords (click here to view these members). The group provides a clear and unique opportunity for Parliamentarians to focus on rural services and it meets four times a year.
We are establishing a digest to provide the opportunity of direct e-mail contact between RSN members and all Parliamentarians on the group and also with other 160 MPs serving rural constituencies (for a complete list of the 210 rural Mp's we directly contact - click here).

The minutes of the All Party Parliamentary Group can be viewed here.

  3. Manifesto
Our rural services manifesto was launched in November 2009. It is our foundation document outlining our view of the full range of rural topics and issues. Throughout the life of this parliament we will regularly review whether our manifesto recommendations (and Party pledges) are being acted upon. This will form the core platform for our research and lobbying programme.

A summary of the Manifesto's of each of the main parties can be found here.

There was a discussion consultation/discussion document called 'Towards a Rural Manifesto' which can be found here.

The final RSN Manifesto can be found here.
