Area Forums & Seminars

The RSN organises an annual seminar programme which is free of charge to members. The events are intended to help Councils and Rural Services Partnership Members overcome some of the issues and challenges that they face in delivering services in rural places.

The RSN Coastal Seminar held at the Pavillion Theatre in Bournmouth on the 4th of December 2012.
OUR first seminar to address the issue of the rural-urban fringe was held at St Mary's Church, Sheffield, in October 2012.

Seminar Programme 2011-2012

At the point of going to press the Localism Bill is still working its way through Parliament, the Big Society, Localism and some of its more detailed key features such as the Right to Build and the Right to Run have stimulated huge debate within the public sector, this event provides an opportunity to get to the heart of the issues.

There have been major organizational and policy changes within the environmental agenda for local authorities and public bodies and this event will provide an opportunity to explore their different guises.

This event will provide an opportunity to discuss and network around the unique challenges and issues facing upland communities.
This event will cover best practice and latest trends around rural housing and fuel poverty.
This event will concentrate on the unfolding of the new economic development agenda and key issues around intervening successfully in rural economies.

This event will explore good practice and opportunities for innovation and partnership around the rural service delivery agenda.

Seminar Programme 2010-2011

- Making the Most of Land and the Environment

Held at York St John University, this event reviewed the distinctive roles and opportunities local authorities have in the context of their local land holdings and landscapes.

This event provided an update on good practice and ongoing challenges in tackling the 'digital divide'. Speakers included:
