RURAL development expert Mark Shucksmith has received an OBE in the New Years Honours list.
A leading authority on rural housing, social exclusion and development, he spent eight years as programme director for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation's Action in Rural Areas programme. Prof Shucksmith also served as a member of the Affordable Rural Housing Commission during 2005-06 and is currently also a Commission for Rural Communities commissioner.
